ABOUT

My Story

My name is Laura Cyr and I am a private instrument lesson educator.  I offer clarinet lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.  I also offer saxophone, trumpet, and trombone lessons for beginner and intermediate students.  Private instrument lessons have a purpose beyond improving natural talent.  Lessons teach students how to practice, set students up for success in band class, keep students motivated, and above all, give students an artistic outlet.

Before having children, I was a Director of Elementary Instrumental Education.  I also taught elementary orchestra, middle school jazz band, high school marching band (woodwinds), low brass instruction at SYMS (UNH summer music program), and private clarinet lessons for all ability levels.  Many of my students have auditioned for and participated in the MMEA Southeastern District Festivals and I am incredibly proud of the work they have put in to achieving their goals.

My passion for music began at a young age when I studied the clarinet and trombone in public school.  I continued to learn new instruments and grow in my love for music while studying for my Music Education degree at UNH.  My years of study helped to develop a passion for practicing, researching, conducting, and educating.

MY SERVICES

Each half hour lesson is tailored to the individual student and their needs.  Throughout the year, students work on proper care of the instrument, playing technique, tone quality, air support, dexterity, scales, method book and solo repertoire, and more.  Often, we play our way through a method book which includes a variety of music that focuses on a specific goal (i.e. articulations, rhythms, patterns, etc.).  I like to pair method books with a longer piece of repertoire that would compliment the student's efforts. Many of my students have been accepted into Southeast Districts and similar performance opportunities.

Lesson compensation is $25 per half hour paid in cash or check and made out to Laura Cyr.

Lessons are pre-paid for the upcoming month due at the first lesson of the month.

An invoice will be e-mailed the week before the payment is due.

Prepayment for the year gives a discount of two free lessons (save $50).
